The plastic surgery specialty encompasses both reconstructive surgery and aesthetic surgery, popularly referred to as Cosmetic Surgery. Reconstructive surgery restores or improves physical function and minimizes disfigurement from accidents, disease or birth defects. While not essential to physical health, aesthetic surgery can make a significant contribution to the quality of life by improving the appearance of normal body features and enhancing self-image. An increasing number of Americans elect aesthetic surgery to change the way they look. Some have noticeable changes made, others subtle refinements. The decision to have aesthetic surgery is usually based on personal factors, as well as the accepted values of our society. Dr New Me.

Let us talk about facial implants. There are different kinds of facial implants, but the two main categories are separated by their consistency. There are soft facial implants, there are firm facial implants, and then there are hard facial implants.

Soft facial implants are facial implants that sort of have the same consistency as the soft tissue and they are somewhat permanent. There is not a whole lot of them available in the market, but one of the most common ones are the Advanta implant. Advanta implant comes in different shapes and is pretty much used and placed underneath the skin. It has the same consistency of the soft tissue of the face and is excellent for the filling of these lines called the nasolabial folds. They can even sometimes be used for the Marionette lines, frown lines, lip augmentation and even sometimes forehead lines depending on how deep they. The reason they are excellent is because they are permanent, they are very soft, they stay where you put them They also give you a very natural augmentation and contour.

Soft facial implants come in different shapes; round and oval, you know in the transection, and they give you a really outstanding out come. These types of implants are recommended for a lot of patients with different needs. You can discuss them either with Dr. Shane Sheibani or another surgeon who may be coming in to talk with you further about implants or facial implants.

The hard facial or firm facial implants are usually made up of silicone. There is firm or hard silicone. There is also a silicone that is somewhat softer. They could be used for augmentation of the dorsum of the nose, like someone of African American or Asian decent whose nasal structure may have somewhat of a spooned effect or the appearance of a low dorsum.
It may take three cycles of implants, depending on the particular implant we use for the cheek area.

There is cheek implant and chin implant. There is even angle of the jaw, that can be used to augment the angle of the jaw. There is also the Medpor implants. Depending on a patients particular needs, the Medpor implants can be used for the nose. chin and reconstruction of the ear. For patients who may need reconstruction of the ear, the Medpor implant is an excellent implant that has the shape of the ear. The implant itself can be placed underneath a flap of skin which then forms the shape of a new ear that almost matches the opposite side.

The chin implant is an excellent adjunct rhinoplasty. Many patients who come in for rhinoplasty, also have a setback or receded chin. In order to create a very nice symmetry, many patients will opt for a small chin implant. This procedure is very simple to praise, has a very minimal incision and small complication rate with an excellent outcome. A tiny incision is made in the natural fold under the chin that is hardly noticeable from the inside of the mouth. When these implants are placed in the right location, they are almost never visible after healing. Such a simple implant can add to the symmetry of the face.

There are many different types of Cheek implants available as well. Cheek implants can be used not only to augment the cheek but also the inferior area, tear trough areas, and right underneath the chin. Some patients have really deep hollow regions in these areas and require these types of implants. Make sure you speak with a surgeon who can tell you a little bit more in depth about these types of implants discuss what your particular needs are. Again, with chin implants, some patients have some indentation or receding of these areas and there are some extended chin implants that could augment and help rejuvenate these areas. Some patients have very minimal jaw strength or jaw angles and again these are special implants that could help that area as well.

In conclusion, facial implants are excellent adjuncts to any facial cosmetic surgery or free standing cosmetic surgery. Depending on the patient it could be an excellent procedure with very minimal complications, very natural outcome and incredible benefits. Dr Shane Sheibani
